Good to know

The Creole Complex is a 4 suite massive New Orleans compound on the edge of the French Quarter, Treme, and Marigny. Downstairs has soaring 15' ceilings, over 36’ of seating area in the main room with an 86” smart TV complete with Netflix, prime (with downloaded classic films), and Hulu plus with HBO and Showtime. The kitchen has granite counters, stocked kitchen with essential cookware and coffee, brand new appliances and dishwasher, and all needs covered. The bar room and dining room feature an 8ft cypress dining table with seating for 10. Beautiful natural pecky cypress woodwork on the barn door complement the soaring 15’ ceilings in this area as well. Outside there is a side gallery (thats a New Orleans porch) with new beautiful iron work and hanging ferns. Walk around the sprawling estate wrapped in tropical birds of paradise and haliconia, ferns, and crape myrtles to the rear hot tub in back under the spectacular palm trees on the massive circular patio! There you’ll find the hot tub and tanning chairs and grill - your own private oasis in the city! !!!!! hot tub is drained July - Sept as it is too hot outside for enjoyable use, but is still available by request prior to arrival !!!!! Suite 1 is located up the towering staircase commanding half the building’s second floor footprint. The massive central sleeping room is replete with 3 sets of 1850s cypress french doors, comfortably fitting 3 queen beds and a daybed. Through one set of gorgeous 1850s French doors is a massive walk in closet/bonus room with dormer and desk and seating area, through another is a massive full en suite bathroom. And finally step through another pair of 1850s French cypress doors onto your own private balcony with rooftop and downtown views! Suite 2 is upstairs in the rear with a queen canopy bed, a comfortable and versatile daybed twin and daybed chaise lounge. Dresser and working nook with desk make for a great quiet getaway out of the larger property. Suite 3 is upstairs in the front with another queen canopy bed and matched antique pineapple twin beds. It also has a working nook, plenty of storage and a western sunset view out of the dormer. Suite 4 is downstairs, tucked away off the bar room parlor with soaring 15’ ceilings and is a perfect quiet and cool corner of the estate. It has 2 queen beds and its own private en suite bath. The downstairs has a laundry room available to all guests. The owner Graham’s suite has a door that remains locked during all guest stays and he enters through a back private entrance and is otherwise not connected to the front suites.

Accessibility and Availability

Neighborhood

The Treme/7th Ward is a very old and historic neighborhood, once forgotten but now quickly transforming into an up-and-coming neighborhood that will be on par with the Marigny and Bywater soon. Renovations are happening at a mind-blowing rate, and tight historic code ensures that these old houses retain their beautiful character and architecture as the neighborhood itself beautifies and finishes fixing up the last remaining pockets of remaining Katrina blight. From the antebellum mansions along Esplanade (two blocks from the house) that used to be Storyville, to the beautiful creole cottages and shotguns throughout (this one was built in 1860's from the documents that remain), the neighborhood is steeped in history. The location is as close as you can get to the action downtown and still be on a quiet enough block to come back and get some rest. The French Quarter is close enough to hear the riverboat calliope on the wind, being 4 blocks/0.3 miles to edge of the French Quarter, and 13 blocks/ 1.0 mile to Jackson Square which is regarded as the center of the FQ. The heart of Frenchmen Street in the Marigny Triangle is 8 blocks/0.5miles from the house as well, where the best live music in town is... with the Marigny Rectangle and Bywater just beyond that as well, home to some of the best bars and restaurants in town. Now that the new Streetcar line is up and running just 2 blocks away, the neighborhood is connected to Uptown and Mid-City via streetcar which is fantastic!

For getting around, you can walk to the French Quarter, Frenchmen street, the Marigny and the Bywater. Anywhere further (or if its too hot) I recommend uber over cabs. They are very reasonable and quick. The new streetcar line is 2 blocks from the front door! it runs down Rampart/St.Claude between Elysian Fields and Canal street (where you can catch the other streetcar lines uptown to the garden district on St Charles or to city park on Canal).

Graham was an impeccable host, he was kind and allowed us to check in early, he gave us some really amazing recommendations. The house is beautiful and large in a quiet area just walking distance from everything New Orleans. I would highly recommend the Creole Complex to others, we were a group of young women and we felt very safe! Thank you Graham for your kindness and all the best for the future.
